I once spent a hefty fortune on a pair custom-made Berlutti's that caused me such physical discomfort that I had the impression they had been designed by the Gestapo. When I complained to the staff, I was told the second pair is always superior! This is the difference between them and the suit controversy. Everyone doesn't want a sloppy pair of shoes but at least they won't cause physical discomfort. Jesper Ingevaldssonreplied: View 6 months ago Jason I think it's a pity. I'm a bit shocked to hear that you've had a bad experience with Berluti They have an excellent reputation. I would say that any proper maker would redo a pair that is coming out such a way. The two I mentioned are extremely comfortable right out of the box and I can wear them all day without any discomfort at all. They also come with some stunning designs. I have never had to look for an alternative and have never bought more than PS500 on shoes. Michael K View 6 months ago This is an excellent article. The mark-ups of many of these brands in the United States, when you can find them, can be impressive. Loake, Barker, Cheaney, etc. They're typically priced at the Alden equivalent to Allen Edmonds. Church's is particularly expensive because of the quality. (Though they do sometimes, to my shame, their 173 lasts fit as a glove inside a UK 12E). Allen Edmonds still made really great shoes 20 years ago, but their attempt to become an all-around clothing brand that had its own shops really harmed the quality of the shoes. shoes that make u taller They're still good for the price point, as this piece suggests but the quality control system is abysmal. The main point is that C&J, EG etc are distinct enough in their quality to justify their cost in USD. C&J and EG aren't offered in the lower levels. If they're not, Alden is a better alternative to any of the other Northampton's lesser priced brands. Reply Simon Cromptonreplied: View 6 months ago Michael Thank you for your nice words. It's difficult to grasp the difference in price between us and in Europe. It's good to know. Douglasreplied: View 6 months ago Michael is on the right track in his assertion that Northampton shoes can be bought from an American retailer. However, I have purchased more than 20 pairs of English boots and shoes over the past 18 months directly from U.K. retailers and stockists as well as the factory. C&J main, hand, Trickers and Alfred Sargent Exclusive were all choices. I've reduced my expenses by purchasing boots and shoes from the U.K. that has no VAT, free shipping, and sometimes great sales because they are shifting their stock. This week, I bought two new shoes from the UK and Shell: a Carmina balmoral for around $500 USD, and the C&J Galway 2, for less than $390 USD. Better quality than the present Allen Edmonds at comparable prices. I'd recommend anyone who's a fan of RTW Northampton and Spanish shoes to check out the source and/or their stockists R Abbottreplied View 6 months ago Good point about Allen Edmonds. Still a decent value (it is the one I first used before I could afford better) but not nearly as good as it was some time back. shoes that make u taller I've been unable to understand why they decided to diversify so much. Allen Edmonds is a shoe manufacturer and will continue to be known as one of those. It's hard to imagine that most people would buy an athletic jacket or sweater from Allen Edmonds. But their attempt to expand their offerings has caused them to lose concentration. The same applies to the luxury items. I don't know anybody who owns a Mont Blanc wallet, but I have friends who own Mont Blanc pen, and I don't think that's ever
