Loake, Barker, Cheaney, etc. are priced above the equivalent Allen Edmonds, usually at the Alden equivalent price. Church's is especially egregious due to the quality. Still pretty good value (it is the company I first used before I could afford better) but not as great as it was time back. It's unclear to me why they want to expand. Allen Edmonds will be remembered forever as a footwear company. I can't imagine very people are going to buy an athletic jacket or merino sweater there. Their attempt to diversify has caused them to lose their focus. The same is true for the luxury items. I don't know of anyone with an Mont Blanc wallet. However I do know a lot of people who have Mont Blanc pen, and I can't imagine the trend changing anytime soon.
